We attended this job yesterday in Hazel Grove, Stockport we was told that the toilet was backing up. We found a manhole chamber in close proximity and opened it up to take a look.

Once opened up we found that the man hole chamber was completely blocked and looked like it had been for a while. 
 
To clean and clear a blocked drain or blocked manhole like this you will need a high pressure water jetter, the high pressure water clear's the blockage and cleans the drain in the process.

In this particular case we jetted the drain for around 30 minutes to remove the blockage, the cause of the blockage was baby/face wipes were being disposed of down the  toilets this is a common problem in drains and prolonged use often leads to blockages.

As the wipes snag and accumulate the flow in the drain starts to slow and the solid waste blocks the pipe up until you cannot flush the toilet. 

Once every thing has been carefully checked the manhole and the surrounding area was cleaned down and the cover resealed to prevent foul smells coming from the drains.
